last summer, i shared with you all our homemade laundry detergent and mentioned my desire to create a stain remover, as well. several of you all responded with recipes that you all use + love- thank you! i looked them over and noticed one common ingredient in all the recipes: dawn's dish soap. i really wanted to use Dr. Bronner's, because i already had it on hand, so i replaced the soaps, added a few drops of essential oils and BOOM- the best stain remover i've ever used. now that Elias is eating more solids, the horrid blowouts are a thing of the past. but when we were in the trenches and stripping him down in the tub almost daily, this stuff saved his clothes.
we've been using this recipe for nearly a year now and still love it. one tip i do have though, is to keep the nozzle on your spray bottle closed when not in use. this will prevent the solution from coming up out of the nozzle and dripping down the side of the bottle. if anyone knows how to prevent that from happening, please let me know. i'm thinking i may have used too much soap in this last batch i made. so just keep that in mind when you're making this. :)
here's what you'll need:
- 8 oz. spray bottle
- 1 part Dr Bronner's Castile Soap (i used Citrus)
- 2 parts hydrogen peroxide
- 1-2 drops tangerine or orange essential oil
directions: place funnel in bottle, measure and pour each ingredient in to bottle and mix together. spray directly on stain, rub together (it'll suds up a lot), let sit for a couple minutes, rinse with HOT, steamy water. you'll literally watch the stain disappear before your eyes!
this. stuff. is. magic. i even made up a smaller version of it to keep in my mama bag, so we have it with us wherever we go. let me know if you make this and tell me what ya think!
until next time,
