As I expected, April was b u s y and flew by.
We started the month with a bang when the interested buyers of our home accepted our offer. From that day, we were given 30-45 days to move. EEK! Immediate excitement and panic. If you've ever sold a house, you know what I'm talking about. It's like everything you've ever wanted happening and then realizing you now have to pack your ENTIRE house up. In boxes. Dear lord. What were we thinking?!
The week after our offer was accepted, we took our first family trip to Florida, which I posted all about here. With how busy this month has been I'm even more grateful for that little time away with my guys. I love looking back through those pictures and remembering our time down there. Not one single piece of me regrets that trip. It was more than worth it.
April was a big month for Elias, too. He not only took his first trip to the beach, but he also learned to do SO MUCH. First, he rolled over for the first time from his back to his belly, two weeks ago. He's only done it a handful of times since. But then last night, he just randomly rolled from his belly to his back and KEPT DOING IT, over and over. It's like he had been rolling over all his life. He just did it so easily.
Elias also said, "Mama" the other day. Now I know what you're thinking, "He's only 4 months old! He can't talk!" And you're right! But I'm not making this up. Dave and I BOTH heard it. I know he doesn't know what that word means yet and probably said it by total accident, but I'm still counting it as his first word because, duh.. I'm mom! Of course I want his first word to be, "Mama". Sorry, Dave. You can have our next kids first word. Deal?
On top of that, he learned to arch his back and slide down my legs, he found his feet and likes to try and put them in his mouth, he sticks his tongue out now and blows the biggest spit bubbles ever. He has also mastered holding toys in his hands and can lean over and pick things up if they are near him. Oh, and he does this thing where he screams at the top of his lungs. It's pretty crazy.
Watching Elias grow is my absolute favorite thing in the whole world. I honestly didn't realize just how fun being a mom would be, and I didn't understand when people said that their children brought them so much joy, but I totally get it now. Everyday I thank God for motherhood. And for Elias Jude.
In between all the packing and moving this month, we managed to squeeze in a few dinner dates as a family, which was nice. Elias and I also took a lot of trips to Target (whoops), had lunch with my best friends, Sara and Kristin, went to a bridal shower for my friend, Nicole AND I hosted a Norwex party (if you haven't heard of Norwex, check it out. I'm obsessed). Trying to balance family, friends and moving on top of taking care of a baby has been exhausting, but I wouldn't trade any of this for the world. I have a lot to be grateful for and I know that.
I have two more things I want to share with you all. First, is some really exciting news that I received just a few days ago. Nuby, a baby product company, has recently started a Parent Blogger program, where they send various products to parents and ask them to review them. Neat, huh? Well, guess who got invited to participate? Me! Starting soon, I'll be reviewing and posting my opinions on their various products right here on my blog! I've never done anything like this before, so I'm really excited and looking forward to sharing my first review within the coming weeks. If you aren't familiar with Nuby, you can check them out here.
The second thing I wanted to share is that I've been working on a new look for my blog. I'm loving how it looks so far and how it's coming together and can't WAIT to reveal it. I'm hoping to have it up and running within the next week so be on the look out for that.
May is looking to be another busy, event filled month. Just this morning we got the call that we can close on our house on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday of next week! I can't believe it. That means this weekend will be our last in this house. Can you guess how we'll be spending it? I'll give you a hint: it involves boxes. And packing tape. And probably pizza, because I ain't cooking.
So that was our month! Busy, busy. Thanks for following along so far in our journey and for anyone that is praying/thinking/rooting for us. We appreciate it more then you know! Please continue to think of us as we start this month in our current home and end it in another. We'll be staying with Dave's sweet grandma temporarily, as we wait for our house to become available. Truthfully, I think she's looking forward to having us, simply because that means she'll see Elias everyday. Which it totally okay with me. :)
Happy Derby weekend and month of May. Summer is almost here!
Until next time,
