Elias turned the big ONE on the 10th. We celebrated quietly, just the three of us and then over the weekend gathered with our friends + family. We decorated with evergreen trees + pine cones + snowflake garland. We made homemade cupcakes, hot ham + cheese sandwiches and cranberry mist. The decor didn't quite match up with the unseasonably warm, 70 degree day, but that's what happens when you live in the Ohio Valley.
Elias was in the best mood. He laughed, played, wandered from family member to family member, hugged on the other kids and just had a wonderful time. You could tell he felt so loved and so safe surrounded by all his favorite people. We ate, opened presents and let Elias dig in to his first chocolate cake. I couldn't help but get a little weepy as everyone sang to our sweet boy. Hearing everyone we love wishing him a happy day, just filled my mama heart with so much joy and appreciation. We love our family + friends so much. Without them, I'm not sure where we would be.
Happy birthday, Elias Jude. I hope your daddy and I can make every birthday as special as you are. We love you so, very much.
Until Next Time,
