Motherhood has made me pretty passionate about a lot of topics, one of those being the creating and maintaining a chemical free + all natural home for my family. If you've been following along for a while then you've more than likely heard me talking about it, but if you're new, you can get caught up on our journey, here.
Because of this new found passion of mine, I'm always searching for shops + products that are safe for my family. I appreciate products made from the heart, made with a purpose and made with simple ingredients. The less in it, the better, is my motto. So when I stumbled upon Blueberries and Lace, a handcrafted vegan + organic skin care line, I got really excited. At first glance, I was instantly intrigued. I mean, just look at their branding. It's adorable. Plus, they use amber glass, which is a slight obsession of mine. My thought process then turned to the price and wondered if they really were "organic" and "vegan" (So many companies use these words to drive sales when they really aren't organic at all. It's tricky. And disappointing.) So I went to their website. I was pleasantly surprised to find a number of products offered for both mama + baby (!!!) and men. And their prices were not only affordable, but their ingredient list was simple and to the point- essential oils, castille soap, oats, jojoba oil, vitamin E- were just a few of the organic and vegan ingredients I found. I honestly couldn't believe I had just found a company that sold exactly what I had been looking for.
So today I'm sharing with you some info about this shop as well as 4 products that I have tried from Blueberries and Lace.
First up- their Mint Facial Cleanser + Gentle Rose Toner: My skin is pretty normal. I've never had any sort of skin issue such as acne, eczema, rosacea, etc. I get the occasional breakout, but other than that, it's clear and normal. I say this because, I can only speak for how this product worked for me. Do keep in mind that when ordering, you can choose between 3 skin types; dry, oily or combination. With that being said, I LOVE THIS STUFF. I followed the application directions the first few times I used it (applying with a damp cloth) and then tried applying it with just my hands and I have to say, use a cloth. There's something about the roughness of the cloth + the mint in the cleanser that leaves your skin feeling so incredibly smooth and fresh. The cloth also acts as an exfoliator, so you really get the scrubbed clean feeling. Follow with their Rose Toner and I swear, you'll never use any other facial product again. I've never felt so refreshed, clean and relaxed after simply washing my face. The Rose Toner and Mint Facial Cleanser go hand in hand, so I highly recommend purchasing both, as opposed to just one over the other. I'm really not exaggerating when I say, I get EXCITED to wash my face at night. Blueberries and Lace really knew what they were doing when they created this duo. They're a must have, ladies. So add it on your Christmas list. Stat.
Diaper Balm: Over the summer, we discovered Elias had some pretty sensitive skin and his bottom seem to stay irritated and red all the time. We went through various diaper brands and wipes, considered cloth diapers and tried variations of coconut oil + essential oils as well as various diaper creams. Everything we tried helped temporarily but didn't seem to solve the issue. We then came to the conclusion that his bottom was staying TOO wet. It cleared up after we let it be and "dry out" for a few days and now that he's eating solids, the problem we once had no longer exists. We now focus on keeping his skin moisturized and smooth by using Blueberries and Lace's Diaper Cream. Their combination of shea butter + coconut oil + zinc moisturizes and protects. Elias' sensitive bum has yet to break out and has maintained that smooth baby skin he should have. I apply it every few days and have been pleased with how it's keeping his skin soft, while not breaking it out.
Mama Oil: When I was pregnant with Elias, I used a stretch oil on my belly twice a day to relieve itching and prevent stretch marks. I loved the product and it really did help with the itching and stretch marks during my pregnancy, but it left my belly and hands SO oily. I'd have to wash my hands after and let my belly dry before getting dressed, so it wouldn't get on my clothes. I still ended up ruining a few tops because the oil stained my clothes to the point of no return. I say all of this because the #1 thing I love about Blueberries and Lace's Mama Oil is that it leaves absolutely NO oily reside behind. Hall-e-lujah! No more hand washing or standing around waiting for the oil to absorb into my skin. You put it on, rub it in and it moisturizes and dries instantly. I use this oil immediately following my shower on my C Section scar, my dry elbows, arms and belly. It's one of those products that I'm glad I'll have around this winter when my skin turns flaky and dry, because it's so moisturizing.
My overall experience with Blueberries and Lace has been extremely positive. I'm not only thoroughly impressed with the craftsmanship and thought that has been put into the products, but also pleased with their customer service and mission. The owners have made it their life goal to create safe and healthy products for the entire family. I personally feel honored to help spread the word of this small business. I believe in them and want you to as well.
