On October 7th, Dave and I celebrated 3 years of marriage. It was our first anniversary with Elias, so we decided to spend the day together as a family. Dave took the day off from work and planned a trip to Huber's Family Orchard in Indiana. We took a tractor ride to the pumpkin patch, snapped a million pictures, ate caramel apple nut bread + drank apple cider under a tree while we watched the ducks by the pond.
Elias loved every part of the farm. He pointed at all the pumpkins, watched people pass, snuggled close to daddy on the tractor ride and couldn't keep his eyes off the ducks. With all that has been going on in our life, plus the renovations, our time together as just the 3 of us have been few and far between. I knew not to take our day for granted, so I didn't. And I didn't rush it either. I wanted to soak in and savor every minute with my family. It turned out to be one of those days you hate to see end, but know you'll remember forever.
And to think, we almost didn't go to the farm to begin with. Boy.. am I glad we did. Here's a few photos from our day.
I can't tell you the last time we took a picture of just the two of us. <3
Elias wanted our apple cider SO bad. He kept pointing at our cups and saying, "UH!". I attempted to give him sips from our cups, but it was tough. He gets pretty aggressive when he's after something, so he would grab our cups, which of course sent cider flying or ended up all over me. Thankfully, we had his Nuby cup with us, so I took it out, poured him a little and watered it waaay down. He absolutely loves drinking out of his cup and you could tell he felt big + proud drinking cider with us.
I'm so glad we had it with us because it really made our time under the tree a lot more enjoyable. It's leak proof- so I wasn't cleaning messes, he can hold it on his own- so I didn't have to help him AND it's Touch-Flo valve makes it's easy for him to get the actual drink out of it. It's just an all around great cup for my guy. He loves it. I love it. It's a win-win.
Later, Dave and I went out to eat for the 2nd time alone since having Elias. We ate on the rooftop of this super cute restaurant in the city. We ordered drinks, was treated to dessert on the house and had the best time laughing, reminiscing and making jokes over how terrible our dinner was. Yes.. our perfect day included the worst food I've ever ate in my life. Not exaggerating. Most would have probably complained, sent their food back or left, but not us. Blame it on the cocktail or just the free-ness of being alone with my husband, but I couldn't help but just laugh about it. It was the fanciest meal I have ever ordered and the worst. We made jokes the rest of the night about our meals and honestly, I'd never laughed so hard. Dave is the only person in the entire world I could do something like that with. And that's why I married him.
It was the most perfect day. I swear, I'll remember it forever.
